MACDONALD STREET

Located in the Eastern Peninsula, Vaucluse is known to be one of Sydney’s Top Wealthy Districts. Set by the Sydney Harbour and surrounded by the Tasman Sea, the location brings forth a charming and embracing open scenery.

It is known to many that the underlying implications of buying a house in areas like Vaucluse is not only about the land itself, but the surrounding environments and the views surrounding. For this project, the main façade faces the sea. With this being the case, the entrance to the duplex is set on the sides, facing the sides roads. This way, the use of a fully glazed main wall allows the owner to enjoy an unobstructed view as well as maximising the natural light in the interior space.

Contrasting the simplicity of the main façade, the side of the building has a strong sense of modernity in its design. Protruding U-shaped stairs encased in a glass semicircle arc, with a built in slatted wooden privacy barrier sits as a bold statement of the design.
